Ethan at Five Months

Dude (as your dad likes to call you), I am loving this blue on you!! Let's just say that these photo shoots aren't as easy these days with as much as you like to move. You are following in your brother's footsteps and love to move!! You want to see what is going on around you constantly and don't want to miss anything. During your fifth month:

  • You are still wearing 6 to 9 months clothes, but the six month stuff is pretty tight on you. The 9 month stuff fits you much better. You are a size 3 diaper and are definitely going to be a big boy. You still prefer to be naked, and you are not a fan of your socks. You continually kick them off. I can't even tell you how many we have lost.
  • You love to smile!! I know I keep saying this, but I love it. You will smile at anyone and everyone.

  • You are starting to sit although you can't do it on your own yet, and you love your feet. You try to grab them and put them in your mouth constantly.
  • You are starting to get some more hair. I am pretty sure you are going to stay a blond. Your new hair coming in is almost white in spots. It also has a little wave going on, so we will see.

  • Mister, I am not sure what has happened, but you have decided that you are not a fan of sleeping. Some days you nap right on cue. Other days, you barely sleep at all, maybe an hour the whole day. At night you are waking up at least twice . . ugh!!! I do love rocking you at night because it is the one time you sit still and cuddle, but I could use a little more sleep. :)
  • You sleep on your side. This still makes me nervous, but no matter what I do you just roll over to the side and put your arm over your eyes.
  • You celebrated your first Thanksgiving and your first snow this month.

  • My favorite time right now is when you wake up in the morning. You have a huge smile that shows your cute dimples, and you talk and talk and talk. If Noah gets up before you as soon as he hears you are awake he runs in there to say "good morning". Oh my goodness, I love it. Then he makes me sing "Wake up, wake up you sleepy head" to you.
  • You started eating solids. I said this on your previous post, but you LOVE food. You reach for it constantly and normally starting fussing when we give you a bottle instead.
  • It is still pretty hard to feed you a bottle. You drink an ounce or two, and then, you push it away, but then get upset when we take it away completely. It is a work in progress. I am hoping this means breaking you of the bottle won't be too hard.

Please note that you were not in the car for this picture, otherwise, you would have been fastened better. I don't drive around with your shoulder hanging out, I promise.

  • You still love to be held. You are normally fine with anyone holding you unless you are tired, and then you definitely prefer your Mama. Trust me, I don't mind. :)
  • You are not a fan of your Bumbo at all. Don't let the picture below fool you. You last about 2 minutes max and then start flailing your body backwards trying to get out.

  • You love Noah!! Oh my goodness, you are constantly watching him and following him with your eyes. You want to know what he is doing constantly. You laugh at him all the time, and whenever he is doing something you like (even though it may not be something your Daddy and Mommy like) you make these grunting noises and try to reach for him. It is like you want to join in. This could be a scary thing for us :). He loves you too!!! He always wants to know what you are doing and is always trying to talk you. He has also started trying to pick you up on his own. I hope you make it to one in one piece.

Mister, I pray over you constantly and am so grateful I was given the opportunity to be your Mommy. I pray that you continue to stay healthy and grow into a strong, compassionate, and respectful young boy that loves Jesus, his family, and his friends with all his heart. I love you buddy!

Sweet Potato, Sweet Potato, Sweet Potato Pie

A week before Ethan turned five months, we fed him baby food for the first time. I was very hesitant to feed him solids so early, but all the boy wants to do is eat what we eat. I have never seen anything like it. Since around four months, he has been reaching for food when we are at the table, has been staring at Noah when he is eating, has tried to put everything into his mouth, and makes this grunting sound everytime food is around.

I talked to the pediatrician, and he assured me that Ethan was the boss, and once he was ready, we would know it. Noah never did this, so I wasn't sure. That, on top of the fact that he is waking up more in the middle of the night than before lead us to letting Ethan try solids. We tried oatmeal the night before this, but he wasn't a fan, and my camera battery was dead. I wasn't a huge fan of the oatmeal with Noah, so we went straight to sweet potatoes.

First bite!

Not sure what to think . . .

Yeah . . . he is a fan!
He loved them. So far, his favorites seem to be bananas (whole not in a jar), avocados, hummus, apples, crackers, and peas. Hopefully, he keeps this up!!

Ethan at Four Months

Sweet boy, I can't believe how fast time is flying by. I realize I will probably say this every post, but it still amazes me. It feels like we just brought you home.

Unfortunately, we were out of town when you turned four months and somehow when I was cleaning out my computer bag your "Four month" sticker must have gotten thrown away because I couldn't find it. I should have just taken pictures of you in a plain onesie. Unfortunately, I didn't think about, so we don't have a true four month photo op. That is an "x" in the mom book for sure. Sorry buddy.

This month was so much fun. During your fourth month:
  • You rolled over!!! I posted about this already, but don't want to forget. It is funny though. You are just like Noah when it comes to rolling over, and even though you can do it, you don't really care to. You don't cry or fuss, but it's almost like you are annoyed you did it. It is hilarious. Needless to say even though you can now, you don't do it to much.
  • We got you on somewhat of a schedule. You still eat every 3 hours and you sleep from 8:30 to 7:30 waking up once around 2:30am to eat (and maybe around 6:00am, but normally the pacifier just puts you back to sleep). Nap around 9:30 or 10:00 for about an hour, again around 1:30 or 2:00 for about 2 hours, and you may take a cat nap around 5:00 for 30 to 45 minutes. Note that I am not to excited in this post about the night sleeping because future monthly post will tell you that has gone down hill. Let's just say I love you little man, but I was not blessed with boys who like to sleep.

The flash kept scaring you and your eyes would open wide like this.

Love your little tongue.
  •  You smile all the time at anything. People can just look at you and you smile. I love it! You laugh too, but not a heavy deep laugh, more like little laughs here or there.

  • You wear 6 to 9 months clothes and are growing like a weed. You have broad shoulders which makes putting on clothes a little tough, so you are not a fan of getting dressed at all. You would definitely prefer to be naked.
  • You LOVE your baths, and Noah loves helping us bathe you. He did pour cold water on you again which sent you into a screaming scared fit which I think scared him more than us getting upset with him. Let's just say he hasn't done it again.
Getting ready for the snow!

We are actually a Pampers family but got these Huggies as a gift. You can't pass up free diapers. :)

  • You are a pretty happy baby as long as you are being held. You LOVE attention and want it all the time. Don't get me wrong, I love holding you, but I can only do so much one handed which you don't seem to agree with. We joke that you are going to be an actor because you rarely fuss when we are out and about or with other people, and when we get home that is when you decide to let your true colors come out. :).
  • The car seat isn't always your favorite, and I have had to pull out the pacifier (which I swore I wouldn't do except for sleeping since Noah was so hard to break) some especially if it is just us in the car. You love Old MacDonald though. It is the funniest thing, but if you start crying, Noah and I can normally sing Old MacDonald for a good 15 - 20 minutes before you start crying again. It doesn't work as well with other songs though.

  • You are starting to acknowledge your toys and always want to be holding something or putting it in your mouth.
  • You seem to love when we read to you. Every night, we read two books to you that Noah picks out, and I don't know if it is the calmness or the actual books, but you love this time, and so do I!!!

Buddy Boo, we are loving every minute of seeing you grow and form a little personality. Your smile melts my heart, and your laugh makes me laugh. Seeing Noah interact with you makes me so happy (even though I do warn him that one you day you will be big too, and his payback is coming :)).

Noah's First Thanksgiving

For Noah's first Thanksgiving, we spent the week in Colorado with Billy and Corinne, and Ryan and Laura joined us. It was Noah's first experience in the snow, and he loved it. It seems so weird that this was three years ago. My goodness how time as flown by.

Family Pic!

Noah and his Nana
We went skiing and snowmobiling, hung out at the house, feed the deer (of course), and enjoyed the snow. We were so lucky to have Ryan and Laura join us.

First time feeding and watching the deer. Little did he know how much he would LOVE doing this later on.

Our little chunky monkey!

Love this little guy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The week before Thanksgiving, we celebrated with Billy and Corinne in Colorado. This has become our yearly tradition. Unfortunately, this year the snow was not our friend. We had plans to have Noah ski again and maybe take lessons, but there just wasn't enough snow. We still had a wonderful relaxing week which was just what we needed. We are hoping to go back in February and hopefully, the snow will have picked up.

Cute boys!

We did some shopping in Colorado Springs and Denver, feed the deer, spent a day in Breckenridge, watched movies, and just hung out. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, and Ben and I even got to do some shopping by ourselves. I love that Noah and Ethan have such a wonderful place to visit.

Little Turkey!

We bundled the boys up to go sledding. Unfortunately, this was the most snow we could find, so we didn't get to go but at least Noah got to make some snowballs.

Gondola ride in Breck.
Fun dinner at Trailwest.

Corinne put together this cute Thanksgiving table for the boys.
And Thanksgiving wouldn't have been complete without Baseball Elf making his appearance . . :)

On Thanksgiving Day, Ben's dad came down from Waco and spent the day with us. We watched the parade on TV, made dinner, played baseball, went to the playground and even took a nap.

We have so much to be thankful for this year. We were blessed with a beautiful new son, have a wonderful family, are healthly, and have enjoyed so many wonderful things this year. God is good.

Apparently, I really liked their orange shirts. I didn't realize how many times they wore them and how many pictures I took of the boys in them.

Papa Kerr and the boys!

I love this smile!

Happy Thanksgiving!
